Kentucky Professional Photographers Convention 2011
Just returned home from another wonderful few days at ProPhotoExpo, the annual convention for the Kentucky Professional Photographers Association. There were many new faces this year and I was glad to meet several new and talented photographers with a passion to learn and further improve our profession. As always, the speaker line-up was amazing and my personal favorite was a very inspiring talk from photographer Lori Grice.
The annual convention is also when our print competition takes place. I was very humbled to take home three special awards. These included 3rd place Illustrative print, the Horizon Award, and the 'KY Top Ten Photographers' Award. It was certainly a proud moment being recognized along side such amazing photographers.

I have been fortunate enough to have an image licensed by PMA for use in a new marketing campaign, including their annual convention in Las Vegas. PMA – The Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations presents CliQ, a new branded experience for photo enthusiasts and anyone interested in getting the most from photography and video.
“CliQ is a 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week commitment on the part of the association to provide content and tools for everyone involved in photography, from consumers to aspiring pros, to retailers and professional labs,” says Ted Fox, executive director and CEO, PMA. “Also, with the recent addition of the Professional Wedding and Studio Photographers Association International (PWSPI) to the PMA family, the association has broadened its appeal to include all segments of the photo/video industry.”
The launch of the CliQ website, features how-to tips, new product reviews from DP Review, and monthly photo contests. In the coming months, more features will be added, leading up to the annual event in September.

Do you have the cutest pet around?
A winner will be determined by public voting. Each vote will cost $1 and that money goes directly to the Humane Society to help with vaccinations and spay/neuter costs for the animals under our care. The Humane Society is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible.
Winners will have their picture posted as the Pet of the Month Contest Winner on the Facebook Fan page and our new blog: http://hendersonhumanesociety.blogspot.com/. Winners will also receive 2 5x7” professional prints and 8 wallets from Williams Photography.

Once your picture is submitted, please share the gallery website with your friends and family and encourage them to vote for their favorite! Voting begins immediately and will continue until 10 days after the end of the month to allow time for late entries to receive votes.
